Why God Chose Intimacy
By Wanda Walborn
One day, as I was reflecting on God’s desire for intimacy, I decided to write whatever came to mind describing the benefits of intimacy. Here is what came to me.
Intimacy keeps me aligned with the heart of God.
Intimacy exposes my heart’s motives.
Intimacy reveals fear, anxiety, shame, and anger.
Intimacy draws me in and lays a solid foundation of love.
Intimacy builds trust. God shares His secrets with me because He trusts me (Ps. 25:14) and wants me to fully trust Him in return (2 Cor 11:3).
Intimacy provides safety. When I feel safe, I open my heart.
Intimacy is meant to be daily, not occasional.
Intimacy is meant to be a lifestyle, not an event.
Intimacy is what my heart longs for, craves, desires.
Intimacy requires intentionality. No one accidentally becomes intimate. It takes time, effort, strategy, planning.
Intimacy is feared because of its vulnerability.
Intimacy is the biggest, safest place I can live.
Intimacy changes everything! It is the place of my salvation. God saves me from myself.
Intimacy is the place of sanctification where I become more like the One I behold.
Intimacy is the place of encounter, face to face. There is nowhere to hide. Naked and unashamed. Received. Welcomed. Covered. Loved. Intimacy is gazing into the eyes of Jesus. He captures my heart and I am ruined for anything else (devotion).
Intimacy is the place of transformation—from the inside out. “You have captured my heart with one glance of your eyes” Song of Songs 4:9.
Intimacy is the biggest threat to Satan, because I recognize his tactics. I cut off lies. I don’t entertain crazy thoughts of being unloved, uncared for, rejected, alone. I KNOW I AM LOVED and I live differently!
In intimacy, I receive and walk in my authority.
In intimacy, I receive and walk in my anointing.
In intimacy, I receive and walk in bold faith to advance God’s kingdom.”
God is calling you closer. Say yes to Him!
